Make Peace Not Love

Frustrated that the male-dominated committee of the Parish Pump Players generally ignores the fact that the majority of the acting membership is female, the women decide to take matters into their own hands. Their choice of play is a freely-adapted version of Lysistrata, Aristophanes’ classic comedy, in which the women of Athens and Sparta conspire together to end the Peloponnesian wars by denying their menfolk sex until they agree to make peace. Make Peace Not Love is a comedy, but there are one or two weightier issues hiding in the wings.
